In today's Internet world, many industrial applications face the challenge of integrating serial devices, such as RTUs, into a reliable Ethernet LAN. CN2610 Series answers this challenge with a special dual-LAN design that satisfies the requirements of even the most demanding redundant LANs.
The fact that each of CN2610's two LAN ports has a distinct MAC address, and the two ports can be configured with unique IP addresses, gives engineers a powerful weapon for preventing application shutdowns caused by network failures. In fact, the dual LAN design can be used to create a "super redundant" LAN/WAN network by establishing a redundant LAN, redundant host, as well as data acquisition redundancy. CN2610 can be used to access and manage any combination of serial devices—RTUs, servers, routers, workstations, LAN/WAN devices, and more. For added flexibility, CN2610's dual-host redundant solution can send and receive serial data to 4 IP addresses on the network.

Most redundant systems provide different levels of redundancy to prevent "single piont failures." These redundant solutions not only require special hardware to create physical redundancy via some kind of "watch dog" switching mechansim, but also need special software for a "token" switching mechanism. CN2610 provides a Dual-host Redundant Data Acquistion Solution—abbreviated as DRDAS—that is suitable for highly redundant data acquisition requirements.
